A demot could be wholly out of place in a village and do a poor job of fulfilling duties, even something as simple as being attuned to what reciprocity demands in the way of helping neighbors in need. Or a perfectionist might prove spiritually insensible or bereft of whatever traits fellow perfectionists consider honorable. One does not have to excel, but one should at least be able to live passably well by the standards of one’s environment.
