Of course, you can play a single game session and have a great time, but the real excitement and power of the D&D game comes from the continuing story as your character improves and develops from one adventure to the next. A continuing storyline means that events have consequences. If you find a magic weapon or a potion in one adventure, for example, you can use it in the next. And that evil necromancer that got away? Watch out! He is likely return in a future adventure to cause more trouble, just like villains in novels, TV series, and movies.
Rogues: You want to play a rogue if being sneaky and cunning appeals to you. Rogues have powers (also called exploits) that enhance their mobility and damage-dealing capability, excel at making sneak attacks, and master many skills. Rogues are a good choice for people who are new to the game and the concepts of D&D.
